i saw the thread on tbn, and felt this question was a good one to pose to the board.. .

tithing is being preached more and more in many christian denominiations.

a chrisitian is under obligation before anything else to give 10% of gross income to the church.

Wow Clash!!! Thank you for judging me. You sound like a member of Landover Baptist Church. If you don't know what that is, go to www.landoverbaptist.org (Yes I know it's a parody, but a damn good one. I LOVE the mail they get from clueless readers).

It's because of your type of judgemental attitude that people are staying away from church. Just because some people choose not to regularly attend church does not make them unrighteous and wicked. I've attended several "mainstream" churches since leaving the JW's, including penticostal, and found "unrighteousness" in each of them. In one case, the YOUTH pastor was banging, or trying to bang every woman in the congregation. All while on the platform "preaching" to us on how kids today have no morals, and pushing us to give more to the youth ministry (I had young kids in the ministry at the time). All the while, he was using funds from the church to pay for his "extra-cirricular" activities. That's giving to God?? I've seen so called baptist and penticostal pastors drive around in Lincolns, Caddy's, BMW's ect, and talking on their cell phones (before everybody had one), while I'm driving around in my used clunker. I've seen their houses while I was living in an apartment. All this with church funds. So, Tithing is not giving to God, It's membership dues into the country club. The more you pay, the better you are treated.

See what you done all you did was get unbelievers all fired up and stur there hatred up even more towards the Christian Church and the Gospel

Just because we may be critical of tithing does NOT mean that we are critical of the Gospel. Do not confuse the two. I think many people on this board have had enough of that type of confusion. Many were accused of being against Jehovah just because we were critical of the Society and GB.

I personally find that accusation offensive. And, I feel those type of comments make me stay away from church even more.

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAIMED OF YOURSELF nowaytess!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be ashamed for making those accusations.

i was going to post this tonight anyway.

when i logged onto the board this evening, i saw the "i was about to be fired" thread and thought "oh great"!!.

tomorrow, my company (obviously i can't mention the name) is cutting 500 jobs.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for your concern, support, and Love. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Just an update. I survived today's round of riffs. We lost 2 employees in our office today. This latest round of lay-offs won't be over until Monday.

I agree with scumrat that one of the worse feelings is that sick feeling in your stomach when you just don't know what's going to happen. Again, thank you all for your love and concern.

to explain: i recall in the 60's and 70's driving down portsmouths commercial road during a lunch time.

in the summer, there would be dozens of pretty girls strolling along, enjoying their lunch breaks.. high-heeled, well groomed and shapely of leg and well turned ankle, these delightful creatures smelled as good as they looked and were a real tonic to an over worked young man such as me.. so where are all the pretty women now?

all i see these days are skinny women with their boobies pushed up to their chins and half a pound of shrapnel punched through their noses and ears.

I was going to post this tonight anyway. When I logged onto the board this evening, I saw the "I was about to be fired" thread and thought "Oh great"!!

Tomorrow, my company (obviously I can't mention the name) is cutting 500 jobs. Most, if not all are in my division (Sales/Marketing).

I've been with them for close to 20 years. Worked my way up the ladder from the bottom to a fairly respectable position. Not too bad for not having a college education. All other people in my position hold BS or Masters Degrees. I only finished High School. (New system coming, time is short, yadda yadda yadda, type of thing....you all know what I'm talking about).

Needless to say, I, among with my co-workers are going to have a very sleepless night. Some people were called by their bosses today and asked to meet with them tomorrow. Those people are going to get cut. One person who was with the company for 23 years asked his boss point blank if he was getting cut, and his boss confirmed that was the reason for the meeting. I'm even tempted to turn my cell phone off. But, If I'm to be one of those who has to go, theres nothing I can do to change that.

It just makes me sick to think about this. I'm the sole breadwinner of my family. I'm hoping and praying that I will still have my job tomorrow night, but for someone who is close to 40, I really hate to have to start over. I know it's just economy, and I realize that many people have it much worse than I do. I really feel bad for anybody who looses their job.

All I'm asking from you all, my brothers and sisters, is just your love and support. I really need it right now. Thanks for listening.

dantheman is a stupid f*cking loser who may be losing his job tomorrow due to a very f*cking stupid loser thing he did at work.. i am so disgusted with myself right now.

Just make sure that you HAVE EVERYTHING DOCUMENTED. Especially the part where she didn't know what you were apoligizing for. You should be alright but, just in case, CYA, CYA, CYA.

Be sincere, but don't start that "I'm an Idiot" stuff in front of HR. Best wishes and good luck.
